Free flute workshop with the Galways

Flute students in Donegal have the chance to take part in a free group flute workshop in Dublin with the world-renowned Sir James Galway and his wife Lady Jeanne. If there’s enough interest, the Donegal Music Education Partnership will organise a bus / transport to the event, which takes place at the Royal Irish Academy of Music on the afternoon of Sunday, December 10th, from 1pm to around 3.30pm (see below for more details).

Contact the DMEP office 07491 76293 or email musiceducation@donegaletb.ie if you’re interested.

Students would need to come with repertoire prepared. The format of the workshop will include full ensemble and break out groups working on varied repertoire, arranged by Sir James and Lady Galway. Scores will be provided in advance free of charge. In terms of target group, there is no minimum standard but flautists must be aged 8 and over. For the breakout sessions, ages 16 + will work with Sir James Galway and ages 8–16 will work with Lady Galway. They are open to working with both traditional and classical flautists. Some students from the RIAM will also be participating in the workshop.
