The Donegal Youth Orchestra is the largest ensemble within DMEP and offers an excellent opportunity for students who have progressed to intermediate and advanced levels. Open to string, percussion, woodwind, and brass players from Grade 3 standard upwards, the orchestra is designed to support and enhance each student’s individual tuition.
Through participation in the orchestra, students develop their instrumental technique, improve sight-reading skills, and build confidence as performers. It also provides a valuable opportunity to meet and collaborate with other young musicians while performing a wide range of outstanding orchestral repertoire in diverse and exciting concert settings.
Conducted by Vincent Kennedy, the Donegal Youth Orchestra meets fortnightly during term time in Letterkenny on Friday evenings. Free transport is available from Donegal Town (and surrounding areas).
