Soundwaves III week – for the 21st century young musician

Make music, make friends and make progress.

That’s the promise to those taking part in Soundwaves III

Soundwaves III week is happening in Errigal College in Letterkenny from Monday 20th February to Friday 24th – the mid-term break. If you fancy a week making music with a bunch of music-mad teens then sign up! Here’s the application form.

Soundwaves III is organised but friendly, it’s about music learning and about music fun. It’s hosted by Wall2Wall Music, and Sarah Murphy and Seamus Devenny will be guiding everyone through what should be an interesting and exciting week.

We expect between 20 – 25 young people for this teen music workshop. Some will be singers, some on keyboards. There’ll be lead players, bass players, fiddlers, sax players and all sorts. It’s not about being brilliant, and it’s not about any particular genre – there will be people there from classical, trad, contemporary, jazz, pop and more.

You’ll learn a lot about making music – creating new material, playing songs, riffs, and more. You’ll get a chance to be in a band and get involved in putting stuff together, performing and recording it in a fun environment.

We’ve had two Soundwaves III days already, one in December and one in January, with sixteen in each. There have been new faces each time, and we’re looking forward to seeing some more this time around.

Soundwaves III is the latest in the acclaimed Soundwaves programme, which has been run very successfully for DMEP by Wall2Wall Music over the past two years. Check out the Donegal Soundwaves videos on YouTube to find out what Soundwavers have been getting up to!
