Classy closing concerts for Chamber Music Fest

The 5th Donegal Chamber Music Festival comes to a close this weekend with two concerts at Conwal Church in Letterkenny.

It’s been a very successful festival, with an outstanding performance by the RTE ConTempo Quartet in Glenveagh, a well-attended concert by the Donegal Chamber Orchestra with Tom Byrne and the Donagh Choir in Carndonagh, and the Donegal Junior Strings putting on a fine show at the Glebe Gallery.

Here are details of the final concerts, presented in partnership with the 3rd Cathedral Quarter Literary Festival:

A watercolour portrait of Franz Schubert (1797 – 1828) by Wilhelm August Rieder (1875). Schubert died a young man but still managed to compose 600 ‘lieder’ – songs for piano and solo voice.

The Schubert Sessions 

Schubert songs, for his friends – old and new 

 

Join baritone Paul Martin, pianist Gerald Bradley and presenter Peter Barry in the historical Conwal Church to celebrate the songs of Schubert. Well know works as Die Forelle, Ständchen, Ave Maria or Der Erlkönig will be sounding in this historical church at the heart of Letterkenny.

Presented in association with Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter as part of the third Literary Festival.

Admission €10. Tickets will be available at the door from 8pm.

Closing concert of the 5th Donegal Chamber Music Festival.  Another eclectic programme as part of the popular classical concert series ‘Sundays in Conwal’ to close this year’s Chamber Music Festival.

Music by Haendel, Bach,  plus works by Hubert Parry and Debussy to commemorate their centenaries. Presented in association with Donegal Music Education Partnership and the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter as part of their 3rd  Literary Festival.

Tickets €10/€5 at the door. Conwal Parish Church, Letterkenny.
