Trad times in Ennis!

Donegal was part of the Music Generation concert which kicked off the Supermacs gigrig at the All-Ireland Fleadh in Ennis on Thursday (18th August 2016).

The Donegal Music Education Partnership helped to put together a group of very talented musicians from traditional music schools across the county. These included the Inishowen Traditional Music Project, Ceol na Coille (Letterkenny), Mulroy Music (Milford) and An Crannog (Gweedore).

The group delivered a cracking set to an appreciative crowd. There were also performances by Music Generation groups from Clare, South Dublin, Mayo, Sligo and Laois.

Well done to the Donegal representatives – from left, Cathal Ó Curráin (bouzouki/song), Deirdre Mc Grory (whistle), Affraic Brophy (fiddle), Caoilinn Diver (fiddle), and Ella McGrory (fiddle/piano), and, sitting, Susan Coleman (concertina), Liam Orr (accordion), Eoin Orr (uilleann pipes), Maeve O’Donnell (uilleann pipes) and Kyle Macaulay (guitar).

Thanks to Roisin McGrory from Inishowen Traditional Music Partnership, who selected the music sets and conducted the rehearsals; to her brother Paul Harrigan (Ceol na Coille) and her husband Neil McGrory for their help; and to Patrick McBride of Mulroy Music.
