Young musicians invited to ‘PCC Soundwaves’

It’s the first time the successful Soundwaves programme has come to the new Atlantic Rock School at PCC. The day is for anyone aged between 12 and 18 who can sing or play a bit, and it doesn’t matter what sort of music.
Two highly-experienced musicians from Wall2Wall Music in Derry, Seamus Devenny (Carndonagh) and Cheylene Murphy (Derry), will work with the young musicians for the day, from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Those taking part will put together original music with lyrics and solos.
‘PCC Soundwaves’ will finish with a group performances of the new pieces. The performance will be recorded.
Soundwaves is organised by Donegal Music Education Partnership (DMEP), which runs the Atlantic Rock School at PCC.
The cost of the day is €20, payable on the day. Places can be booked through the DMEP at 07491 76293 or by emailing musiceducation@donegaletb.ie. Students at the Atlantic Rock School can simply give their names to their tutor.
Martin McGinley of the DMEP said Soundwaves is a great opportunity for young musicians to get together and make new musical friends.
“It’s brilliant what’s happening at PCC at the moment. We’ve a lot of talented young people coming to the lessons, and this Soundwaves day will give them a chance to make music together. It’s amazing what can happen, and Wall2Wall are super at helping it along.”
Four original songs recorded at a pre-lockdown Soundwaves day in Letterkenny can be found on YouTube by looking for ‘Soundwaves One Day Special – Create and Record’.
Anyone interested in doing singing, guitar, drums or piano at the Atlantic Rock School in PCC can enrol at dmep.ie or contact the DMEP by emailing musiceducation@donegaletb.ie
