This is a follow-on to the very success Mini Mozarts classes we had with Triona Sweeney. Looking after our Mini Musos in 2017-18 will be Ellen Quinn, a piano teacher, mum and all-round friendly person with a big interest in music and children. We’re working on a timetable for Mini Musos. The get-togethers may well be on Saturday mornings at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny.

Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Class ages
Mini Musos is a series of music lessons where children enjoy music-making while learning about the rudiments of music. Classes are relaxed yet structured so that children can learn about many of the fun elements of music before they might formally learn an instrument.
- Tonal development (singing in tune)
- Pulse development (keeping time)
- Group and individual singing
- Musical games
- Ensemble activities
- Introduction to sight reading
- Instrument identification
- Dance and movement
Music classes can benefit your child in many ways. For the child who might go on to learn an instrument or study voice, pre-instrumental classes will help them to prepare and to choose what instrument to learn. And for all children, classes are designed to engage and inspire and they aim to encourage boys and girls to enjoy music making throughout their life.
Small Class Sizes
Classes are delivered in a supportive environment to help build confidence and self-esteem. With group sizes of around eight participants (10 for Juniors), children have the benefit of group learning yet still receive individual attention.
Teaching approaches are influenced by the Kodaly and Dalcroze methods, and Indian konnakol. Classes are grouped according to the child’s school class i.e. Junior Infants, Senior Infants or First Class.
