World premiere of ‘Plan of a Piece’

The world premiere of a new work by composer Derek Ball, ‘Plan of a Piece’, proved a special occasion at Conwal Church, Letterkenny, on Sunday (20.10.19).

The piece is based on the work of Jane Austen, and actress Maura Logue was there to play the part of the writer, with music from the Donegal Chamber Orchestra and Sarah Murphy (Derry) on flute.

Composer Derek Ball was in the audience and took a bow as his new piece was given a very warm reception.

The DCO also performed works by Albinoni, Elgar, Tchaikovsky and Kreisler.

This was the closing concert of the 6th Donegal Chamber Music Festival, which featured five concerts in ten days and was a big success.
